SKYWARN ACTIVATION REQUESTED – July 12, 2022

Good Morning!

We are requesting the activation of SKYWARN this afternoon given the likelihood of severe thunderstorms. Damaging winds will be the primary threat with large hail and an isolated tornado less likely, but not out of the question. The time period where severe weather is most likely to occur is 12pm-8pm.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we would request remote coverage of WX1GYX. Any method possible to send in reports is acceptable, with the preferred method being population of the SKYWARN NET Reporting Google Sheet: https://bit.ly/3P5BfzY

Thank you for your help and continued partnership!

SKYWARN Activation is requested to monitor the severe weather potential for this afternoon through evening. Damaging winds, the possibility of large hail and an isolated tornado, are the main threats.

Since these storms may be isolated and cover very small portions of the forecast area, please activate local nets as necessary. Keep an eye on the radar and monitor for warnings. Remember, if you don’t hear SKYWARN activity in your locality, and severe weather is happening, help gather reports!

Be alert and stay safe,
