…A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTHWESTERN SOMERSET COUNTY…

At 401 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 19 miles northwest
of Jackman, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include…
Soldiertown, Sandy Bay, Town Of Thorndike, Hammond, Alder Brook,
Pittston Academy Grant, Moose River, Comstock, Forsyth and Brassua.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Good Morning,

A strong storm system passing to our west brings periods of heavy rain to the area this afternoon and tonight. Ponding of water in urban and poor drainage areas is possible. Breezy winds will be likely with gusts to 30 mph, with higher gusts in the mountains. There is also a potential for damaging winds along the coastal areas. Wind advisories are in effect beginning at 4PM for the southern coastal areas and 7PM further north. See below:

…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 AM EST TUESDAY… for Kennebec-Interior Waldo-Sagadahoc-Lincoln-Knox-Coastal Waldo Counties.

SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the strong to damaging wind, heavy rainfall and thunderstorm potential this afternoon through early Tuesday Morning.

Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions according to Standard Operating Procedures. Please activate local nets as necessary. Nets are expected to commence on the KQ1L link system and 147.090 repeater in Maine, beginning at 4:00 PM or earlier, if the storm dictates.
