SKYWARN Activation Requested – 12/23/22

Good Afternoon,

A large winter storm with a variety of impacts is expected to impact the region beginning tonight and continuing through early Saturday. SKYWARN Activation is requested for this period for all areas. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we would request remote coverage of WX1GYX.

Of particular concern for this event include:

  • Coastal flood reports
  • Wind speed/damage reports
  • Rainfall totals
  • Pictures of flooding of any type
  • Snowfall reports (precipitation may start as snow in northern areas)

Any method possible to send in reports is acceptable, with the preferred method being population of the SKYWARN NET Reporting Google Sheet.

SKYWARN Activation is requested to monitor this multi-hazard storm system early Friday Morning into Christmas Eve. Amateur Radio call-up nets will activate during the day Friday to monitor for strong to damaging winds and heavy rainfall as needed.
