…A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTHWESTERN SOMERSET COUNTY…

At 401 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 19 miles northwest
of Jackman, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include…
Soldiertown, Sandy Bay, Town Of Thorndike, Hammond, Alder Brook,
Pittston Academy Grant, Moose River, Comstock, Forsyth and Brassua.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Good Afternoon SKYWARN Team,

Severe storms are possible this afternoon. The highest threat will be in western New Hampshire this afternoon and along the Quebec border in Maine later this evening. We would appreciate any reports you can gather. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Grafton and Coos Counties in NH. The largest threat for storms will be after 5PM.

Any method possible to send reports is acceptable, with the preferred method being the population of the SKYWARN Net Reporting Google Sheet. Please let us know if you have any questions.

As mentioned above, isolated strong to severe thunderstoms capable of producing damaging winds, hail, and torrential rainfall are expected to impact portions of western Maine and New Hampshire this evening. Currently there are Severe Thunderstorm Watches in effect for Grafton and Coos Counties, in NH.

SKYWARN Amateur Radio ops will monitor the storms and activate DMR SKYWARN Talk Group (759) and other repeaters as the storms progress eastward. Please activate local and county level SKYWARN nets as needed, especially in Western New Hampshire, which is out of VHF range for most Net Controls who are currently operating from their homes in and around the Gray, ME area.

  • At 353 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
    extending from near Ossipee to near Wolfeboro to 7 miles northwest
    of Alton, moving northeast at 10 mph. HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
    to roofs, siding, and trees.

    Ossipee, Moultonborough, Alton, Effingham, Wolfeboro, Gilford,
    Acton, Freedom, Brookfield, Eaton, Wakefield, Tuftonboro,

10 miles south of Bethel, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include…
Waterford, Lovell, Greenwood, Stoneham, Albany, Mason and Norway.

We are expecting severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Storms will begin along the Quebec border around 2PM and progress south and east through the area, ending around 10PM. The main threat is damaging winds, although an isolated tornado is possible. We would appreciate any reports you can provide. At this point, COVID protocol still requires activation of nets from home (we’re hopeful to see you in ops this fall!). Please let us know if you have any questions.

As mentioned above, thunderstorms will enter the region beginning around 2PM. The main threat will be damaging winds, with an isolated tornado possible.

SKYWARN Amateur Radio ops will begin this afternoon on the DMR SKYWARN Talk Group (759) around 2PM to capture reports from New Hampshire, and will move to the W1QUI 147.090 (+ /100 Hz) and KQ1L 146.880 (- / 100 Hz) repeaters later in the afternoon / evening as the severe weather progresses eastward. Please activate local and county level SKYWARN nets as needed.
